Getting Started

Start by creating a permanent science space for your child to work.  It might be a small table on your porch, a corner indoors, or even a spot in the yard.  By making it permanent, you model respect for your child's work and the world of science.
Fill the science space with equipment for your child to use. Suggested tools are listed below.
Balance and weights
BOOKS on: birds, rocks, seeds&nuts, and trees
Chop sticks
Collection box
Dice
Digital Microscope
Forceps
Funnels
Goggles
Hand lens or magnifier
Ice Cube Trays
Magnets
Measuring cups
Medicine cups
Paper egg Carton
Page -- Number recognition (available for printing under the "printables" tab)
Pipettes
Rulers
Timers
Soup bowl

Using the information on the page titled Tools of Science, help your child learn how the different items work and think about ways he/she might use them.
